The luminous color and efficiency of LEDs are related to the materials and processes used to produce them. At the beginning, the lamp balls are all blue light, but later, fluorescent powder is added to adjust different light colors according to the different needs of users. There are four widely used types: red, green, blue, and yellow. Due to the low working voltage of LED, which can actively emit light and have a certain brightness, and the brightness can be adjusted by voltage, it is also shock resistant, vibration resistant, and has a long lifespan (100000 hours). A display screen made by combining red and green LED chips or tubes as one pixel is called a monochrome or single primary screen and a tricolor or dual primary screen. A display screen made by combining red, green, and blue LED chips or tubes as one pixel is called a tricolor screen or full color screen. If there is only one color, it is called monochrome. The pixel size for making indoor LED display screens is generally 2-16 millimeters. It is often used to package several LED tubes that can produce different primary colors into one unit. The pixel size for outdoor LED screens is mostly 6-31.5 millimeters, and each pixel is composed of several various monochrome LEDs. Common finished products are called pixel tubes. Dual color pixel tubes are generally composed of 2 red and 1 green, and three color pixel tubes are composed of 1 red, 1 green, and 1 blue.

Whether using LEDs to create monochrome, dual color, or tricolor screens, the brightness of each LED that constitutes a pixel in order to display an image must be adjustable, and the precision of its adjustment is the grayscale level of the display screen. The higher the grayscale level, the more delicate the displayed image is, the richer the colors are, and the corresponding display control system is also more complex. Generally, images with 256 grayscale levels have very soft color transitions, while color images with 16 grayscale levels have very clear color transition boundaries. Therefore, color LED screens are currently required to be made into 256 to 4096 grayscale.

The development prospects of LED are extremely broad, moving towards higher brightness, higher climate resistance, higher luminous density, higher luminous uniformity, reliability, and panchromism.
LED display screens have gradually emerged with environmental protection, high brightness, high clarity, high reliability and other characteristics. In the previous stage, the LED display screen market only met people’s needs, but in LED display screen products, it did not meet the requirements and the quality was not up to standard. With the development of LED display screens, there has been a new breakthrough in LED display screen products. At least progress has been made compared to the previous stage.
